MBS understands the patient comes first. Because our focus is healthcare, we understand and value patient relations.
MBS self pay follow is designed to identify additional insurance billing and to prompt patients to pay, thereby eliminating the need for extensive collection activity. MBS uses letters to notify the patient that of their responsibility for the outstanding balance. Our letter demands payment in full for the balance owed or that the responsible party contacts our office immediately.
The patients contacting our office will speak with a trained representative who will determine, given the information available, the appropriate action needed for account resolution. MBS self pay follow up is flexible and it can be changed to fit your organization's specific requirements.
Timely and efficient collection action is the key to keeping receivables in check and avoiding the unnecessary aging of accounts. Too often, receivables are left sitting, waiting to be called and followed up on, because the in-house staff is over burdened, or inexperienced. This is the worst situation possible since receivables become more uncollectible in proportion to their age.
MBS letters are sent through our system; however, they are generated in the name of the client. The telephone calls are also made in the name of the hospital. For example, a representative reaching the guarantor of an account will identify himself or herself as follows:
‘Mr. Jack Johnson? This is Joan Smith calling for the [Clinic/Facility Name Here] business office. I’m calling about the remaining balance on your account for services that were provided to you on November 12, 2008. If you would like, we can take care of that balance by applying it to your Visa or MasterCard over the telephone…’
The telephone call will continue in a customer service friendly style. If the agent is unable to obtain a positive response with the contact, they will let them know that if they do not resolve the account, it will be placed for collections.
